Most people enjoy giving presents, especially thoughtful ones that make your loved one’s face light up. Britney Spears Believe: Britney’s done it again (sorry) with her fifth fragrance Believe. I thought Brit was supposed to be a pop star but she is building quite the perfume empire- just this month she has released her latest effort, Hidden Fantasy. Back to Believe for now though- the cute, girly box and pretty green-coloured perfume reflect the sweet and feminine qualities of the fragrance. Opening with juicy tangerine and guava notes, at its heart is honeysuckle and linden blossom. The scent closes with a sugary musk accord of pink pralines, amber and patchouli. It’s a pleasantly fresher progression from Brit’s previous perfumes and it has a wider appeal, being suited to the usual teens and twenty-somethings as well as older women.
Givenchy Very Irresistible Sensual: Did you know that this fragrance, the ad campaign of which is fronted by actress and model Liv Tyler, actually contains a ‘Liv Tyler Rose’ note? That’s right, Givenchy named a rose after her! Boys, take note- if you really want to make your beloved’s day, try to get a flower named after her (good luck). Encased in the elegant, deep purple-coloured bottle is a velvety, creamy floral scent that is dominated by a five-pointed rose accord. Who knew that there were so many different roses? Included here are centifolia, peony, fantasia, passion and emotion roses, all of which are underpinned by Liv’s namesake. While the fragrance is quite ‘green’ and a little spicy at first, the exquisite floral blend is the main attraction and the dry-down consists of warm vanilla and patchouli.

Emporio Armani Remix: Remix is part of Armani’s ‘Get Together’ range, which features his and hers fragrances in the familiar, inimitable rounded-topped bottles. This lid-less design makes for quite a sleek, modern appearance that is accentuated by the deep midnight blue colour of the bottle and its bold, futuristic-looking typeface. A twist on the classic Armani He scent, Remix comprises an unusual combination of ingredients, resulting in a vibrant and exciting fragrance. A rich, striking fusion of basil, bergamot and aniseed opens the scent, while an aromatic accord of cardamom, mace and fern, along with lily of the valley, is at the centre. This herby, spicy blend is heady and distinguishable- these qualities are continued into the fragrance’s finish, which is a dark, woody base of liquorice, complemented by sweet, smoky vetiver and warm white musk.
Beckham Signature: David Beckham- footballer, style icon… perfumer?! Ok, maybe not, but it’s clear from the outset that David’s latest fragrance launch is definitely based on his personal tastes. Renowned as quite the dapper gentleman, the stylish grey box housing the contemporary, angular bottle with its tasteful chrome accents reflects this. As you would expect from possibly the world’s most fashionable footballer, the scent is masculine, opulent and sophisticated. It starts off as fresh, energetic and subtly fruity, with a watermelon, marine and mandarin accord. At the centre of the fragrance, there are woody tones and a distinct pepper accent, achieved by juniper berry, cypress and living lantana. To close is a delicate, refined blend of sensual white amber, patchouli and luxury moss.
